Linux host

This command displays domain name for given IP address and displays IP address for given domain name. It also performs DNS lookups related to DNS query.

Example:

  1. host javatpoint.com  
  2. host 144.76.11.18 

Linux Host1

Look at the above snapshot, on entering domain name we got IP address and on entering IP address we got domain name.


host -t

This command helps to find DNS resource records like SOA, NS, A, PTR, CNAME, MX, SRV.

Syntax:

  1. host -t <resourceName>
